Well based on my own experience, I can imagine parents not wanting to spend more money on shorts and thinking if they already had an approved alternative, they could just "make do" with what they had!

Aww yes, that's really tragic. Strangely enough, earlier today I was thinking about some people who I knew from school who passed away very early in life. I was thinking how when you're altogether at school it never really occurs to you that some might not reach old age, and also that whatever happens to me from this point on, I was more fortunate than those poor souls. A poignant reminder to make the most of the time we have. ?
